Our Network
The Colombian Network for the Philosophy of Technology (phi-tec) is an academic community dedicated to strengthening critical and reflective thinking about technology from a philosophical perspective, encompassing its ontological, epistemological, ethical, political, and educational dimensions. Its main purpose is to bring together researchers, educators, students, and professionals interested in this field in order to consolidate a collective space for dialogue, cooperation, and knowledge production in Colombia.
Given the limited institutional presence of philosophy of technology in academic programs across the country, the Network emerges as an autonomous initiative aimed at fostering encounters among dispersed actors, generating academic debate where formal forums are lacking in universities and faculties of philosophy and the humanities. In this regard, it positions itself as an alternative and plural space for discussion, collaboration, and intellectual exchange.
The Network seeks to promote research in philosophy of technology by integrating capabilities and collective efforts, encouraging both theoretical reflection and critical applications of philosophical thought to contemporary technological phenomena. Through activities such as symposia, conferences, joint publications, and collaborative networks, the Network fosters the active engagement of the national academic community in current debates within the field.
Moreover, the Network’s mission includes making Colombian contributions to the philosophy of technology more visible, promoting the circulation of knowledge through the dissemination of initiatives and the strengthening of ties with other groups, associations, and networks, both nationally and internationally. In its work, the Network connects diverse philosophical traditions, interdisciplinary perspectives, and ethical, political, and social concerns related to technological development in the Colombian and Hispanic-American context.
